On October 1, 2006, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement implemented the first deliverable of the FALCON project and FDLE's first use of biometric technology for less than ten fingers. This implementation enables the rapid identification of sex offenders and probationers, as required by the Jessica Lunsford Act. During the Rapid ID Pilot, access is limited to the Sheriff's Offices for sex offender re-registrations and to the Department of Corrections for the identification of probationers.
During the development of the Rapid ID Pilot, FDLE used the software and devices provided by CrossMatch Technologies, the company on state contract at the time of development; however, other vendors may be developing comparable applications to submit Rapid ID transactions. FDLE is currently working with the Department of Management Services to develop a statewide contract for both 10 print capture devices and less than 10 print capture devices.

As the FALCON Project progresses, new device system requirements may be identified, and those requirements may necessitate updates to the devices during and after implementation. For questions regarding device system requirements, please contact: FloridaFalcon@fdle.state.fl.us.
