FALCON Benefits: Now and Beyond
FALCON's time has come. The Computerized Criminal History System was built in the early 1970's and the Automated Fingerprint Identification System was built in the late 1980's. They were not integrated. They could not supply new, sophisticated technological functions. They could not support today's high-volume demands. FALCON can - and will.
Better criminal identification.
The point, of course, is what the system does. Identifying criminals will be more sure, comprehensive, and timely than ever before. So will reporting.
Streamlining and saving.
The new integrated system will reduce criminal justice professionals' labor-intensive workload. A complete, centralized criminal history will eliminate redundant collection, storage, and dissemination of information by different agencies. Employees will have more time for delivering services. They will work easily with emerging technologies. And they will have ownership: FALCON's web-portal format will give users direct access for all authorized functions: recording, searching, correcting, reporting. Saving time saves money.
Security.
Built into the system are multilevel security, auditing, and tracking functions. Each agency's access, and the public's, is of course restricted to specified information, with rigorous security. FALCON will be compatible with FDLE's Public Key Infrastructure that secures and controls access to data. A back-up site will ensure continuous operation 24/7. FALCON will be its own fortress.
RAPID ID.
Small relatively inexpensive one or two-finger fingerprint capture devices will be able to be used as part of FALCON to either (a) validate a subject's identity information or (b) search and identify using only the subject's two fingers and no other demographic information. Initial deployment will be to criminal justice agencies.
Not only will FALCON's technology be state-of-the-art, it will be modular. Its open standards will ensure the capacity for change: compatibility with diverse systems, ability to advance and expand. FALCON is the future.
